A group of us went to the coast today for Million Mile Monday. Flora and I were joined by Harlan and Peggy, Larry Helin, Keith Bertram, Ernie and Meika Mueller, and our new member from last months meeting Dave......sorry Dave I don't know your last name. We left about 745am headed toward Coalinga, had breakfast there and then out through Priest Valley to 101. We continued toward Lake Naciamento and through Fort Hunter Ligget to the coast and Highway One. The road from Hunter Ligget comes out about 25 or so miles north of San Simeon (Hearst Castle). We followed Highway One in the 60 degree weather to Cayucos for lunch and then on to Morro Bay and just kinda cruised around on the coast the rest of the afternoon. At about 530 we headed to the heat again, but it didn't really heat up till about 5 miles past the grape fountain on Hwy. 46. The entire day was great, the wx. didn't heat up until after we had gotten out of the valley and the coast was a nice cool 60 or so degrees all day. We were actually getting a little cold riding down Hwy. One. Flora and I logged 322 miles each and I know the others were from Fresno and Visalia, Exeter so they logged closer to 400 or more so our total is somewhere in the neighbor hood of 3400 to 3500. What a great day, and believe me when I tell you hydration vests rock. Once we got back to the heat the hdration vest came out of the saddle bags and we were nice and comfy. Hopefully you all rode at least some today, and got your miles logged into the HOG Website. When we logged our miles at 845 there were 2.7 million already logged and it will keep growing. You have until tomorrow to log todays miles so don't forget.
Dave.
